"I ordered two Oregon commemoratives from RCNH and received them three days later. RCNH apparently understates the quality of their inventory: these coins, which already looked superb on their website, looked even better when I examined them after they arrived. But what is just as important is the willingness of their personnel to take the time to thoroughly answer every question, irrespective of the amount of the purchase. First-rate in every respect."
"Wow! If you were a baseball player I would say you hit a Grand Slam on the four coins you sent me. Thank you.
What other dealer has the exquisite taste to deliver four coins that are better than I could hope for. Your high standards, expertise and attention to detail are very much appreciated."
“They finally arrived! I just opened the package and I must say that I am the proud owner of the finest specimens yet to grace my fledgling commem collection.....jaw dropping beauty with nary a mark on 'em. Thank you for providing me the opportunity to purchase them…. You folks have always provided me with some really prime examples but this set is beyond all of my expectations. Again, I offer my thanks to you and all of the gang at RCNH, and I look forward to future dealings with you."
"Received Oregon commemorative yesterday. Love it, what a beauty. I never really was attracted to white coins, but when you buy original white coins from RCNH I can see why people seek them out. Others in the past were probably tampered with and that's why I never sought them out because they didn't look anything like the white coins from RCNH"
"Thank you very much for your time today I hope you have a Merry Christmas thanks for your professionalism and I look forward to dealing with you in the future."
I LOVE your newsletter!!
This is far from an original thought, but when you suggested seeing Gazillions of coins as a step to improving grading skills in the RCNH Newsletter I received today, in my experience going to any major auction at a national or regional show, registering to bid in the auction (whether ultimately doing so or not), and then spending HOURS over a couple of days (if possible) viewing auction lots can give one that sort of exposure.
To this day, I will often get a box of slabs at an auction lot viewing, cover the grade insert with my hand as I am pulling a coin out, and then assess it myself before looking at the insert.
Gary and I will be doing exactly that sort of thing starting next Saturday at the Stephens Convention Center! We did that in Baltimore last March as well.
Also, I would recommend the A. N. A. "Summer Seminar" grading courses. I have taken "Advanced Grading" (Bill Shamhart, Charlie Brown, Don Ketterling, and Ken Park as instructors) twice, and plan to do so again. The incredible variety of coins shown in this class and the chance to learn from these four guys is an unbelievable experience! I haven't taken either "Beginning Grading" or "Intermediate Grading," but have heard good things about these courses from other "Summer Seminar" students.
Lastly, I was extensively "coin mentored" by Kurt Krueger and Russ Konig back when I lived in Wisconsin. A good "coin mentor" is worth his weight in gold, as you attested in your newsletter from your early experience working with a major coin company ("Rare Coins of New England" back when Jim Halperin and Steve Ivy were involved with it??).
My $.02 worth, which you can feel free to use in future newsletters, should you so desire!
See you and Paul soon!
"A joy of purchasing from RCNH is the consistent quality of the individual coins. From a lower grade raw coin to a MS66 CAC each coin has pristine original surfaces; natural toning; and accurately graded. I've never been disappointed with a coin from RCNH. Thank you for being unique in the industry."
"We have done business with RCNH for several years. They are very kind and extremely generous, not only with their time, but also with their knowledge. They have spent many hours combing through our collections of mostly unspectacular coins giving an honest appraisal on any coin that was even slightly more than average. Couldn't have asked for more time and effort than they provided. It's worth it to us to drive almost two hours to meet with them because we trust them and enjoy the interaction."
"Just opened the parcel and its BEAUTIFUL!! the surfaces are original and I especially like the subtle violet toning near the date, it is very well struck and exhibits tons of luster on both sides it puts to shame my other 65 that I had purchased from... a couple years back (I should of returned it when I bought it dang it) On a similar vein I received some good news on my latest NGC submission when my 40D garnered a D/D VP 503 MS64 grade I was hoping for 65 but?? oh well at any rate thanks again for the follow-up call and will talk later and good luck at Baltimore."
"I just wanted to let you know how happy I am with the 1956 Franklin proof half dollar I've recently purchased in PR-66. (PCGS) It's beautiful! I was also very pleased to get a personal letter on your letterhead stating that this coin had the potential as a PR-67! I've had occasion to look through the website and will definitely be making future purchases! Thank you, and keep up the great work!"
"The latest two coins I ordered arrived on Saturday. The 1893 MS-64 Columbian half is nice. It's certainly good enough to warrant addition to my collection-about what I expected from the photo. The 1897 Morgan looks exceptional in the photo and your description also raised my expectations even further. At first glance, the toning on the obverse looked a bit darker to me than the photo. Looking at it under magnification with proper lighting, however, I'd say it matches the photo rather well. The reverse looks like the photo to the naked eye and under magnification-absolutely stunning! This may be the best coin in my collection. I mentioned on the phone that my daughter is a metalsmith and likes toned Morgan dollars. She was rather ecstatic about this Morgan. I'm glad I called you about this coin before it got snapped up by another collector. Thanks."
"For the past four years I've had RCNH in pursuit of a "nice" common date MS67 Saint. One might reckon this endeavor to be easily achieved within a year, when accounting for the modest population in this grade. However Warren's strict grading standards precluded us from settling on just an ordinary 67. When I recently received word from Dave that Warren found a coin he liked, I knew it would be technically superior. When I opened the box and pulled my coin out, I was looking at a stunning Saint with incredible eye appeal. Ultra clean, original, and with rich color. This is unquestionably one of the finest Saint Gaudens in existence. Thank you Dave and Warren. Indeed, you did it!...I love my Saint!"
"...Finally, my deepest respect goes to you and everyone else at RCNH. As I have already told you, I would probably stop collecting if RCNH did not exist."
"Wow! What great coins that arrived today. They exceed the high standards that I expect from RCNH..... Great doing business with you."
"My package arrived today and it was packaged so well it took me 20 minutes to open it up but it was worth the wait. Just when I thought you were not paying attention to my want list my representative called me with a coin. It far surpassed anything I could have bought or have seen in years. Thank you very much."
"Wow! When I saw this coin on your website I immediately ordered the coin online... When it arrived in the mail I said to myself "Oh my; I can't believe it!". A superb 64 indeed...to me it looks MS-65 any day of the week. Your coins are everything that customer testimonials say they are and I will definitely be diligently watching your web site! Thank you!"
"I don't know how you do it. The 1797 Half Dime you just sent me is fantastic! Original, nicely toned, problem free - I don't know how you find early U.S. coins of this caliber."
"Hi, I wanted to tell you how pleased I was with the five coins that arrived. They are exactly what I have come to expect from Rare Coins of New Hampshire. Your descriptions are consistently accurate and the grading is on target. It is comforting to purchase coins and know that the quality and originality will be there. There is no fear of purchasing problem coins from your firm because you just don't sell them. I appreciate the wide-range of grades and prices that you offer to fill the niche of virtually any collector who values original coins with plenty of character"
"It is with a great sense of satisfaction that I write you today. It seems that customer service is your number one priority and I am truly grateful for that. Dealers can be short with you, they can sell over graded and lower quality material just to make a buck. At RCNH, the opposite is true and as a consumer I am convinced of your philosophy, it is palpable. Scans and nice descriptions, emails and follow-ups accompanied the sale. It's nice to buy good coins. It's even nicer having a quality experience to go with it!"
"I spent 5 hours at the show and saw a ton of coins. It really made me more fully realize the quality of material and standards that you and RCNH abide by. I feel fortunate to have made your acquaintance and appreciate every acquisition from RCNH. As I learn more and become more coin competent, I truly appreciate the special original nature of RCNH coins and as you saw today am taking steps to move my collection to an RCNH only status."
"The 1921-D Morgan I bought from you graded at MS-64 (a 4 point upgrade). On the other hand, several coins I bought locally and sent in were body-bagged as being cleaned. I think I've learned my lesson."
"Please pass on a very sincere thank you to Warren for having a look at the 1916 McKinley in Baltimore. Saved me some serious disappointment. There's just no substitute for expert assistance like that. There's no way I will consider buying anything at auction without it. I'll be watching the (RCNH) inventory like a hawk."
"Came home from work to find a RCNH package sitting on the kitchen counter. Felt like a kid again...Could not open package fast enough to get the contents. All I can say is WOW... the coins are gorgeous. You repeatedly take originality to the next level. I could not be more pleased."
